Quirky Turkey

Quirky Turkey is a turkey.

He has two wings and one head. However he can not do a single thing with his brain.

He has lots of brown feathers. He has brown eyes and a red wattle. Even though the turkey has a wattle, it still gives me the creeps.

Quirky Turkey can be found in a place with hot sun and a sheep because that’s where he lives.

He will try to trick Little Baa Baa into drinking lemonade .

Karamu

Maori name: Karamu
Common name: Karamu
Botanical name: Coprosma robusta
Karamu has glossy leaves and small red berries and is found in forests throughout New Zealand.

A twig of Karamu was placed on the
ground in front of the patient and then a chant was said to cure the disease.

An ointment (called Hapete ointment) containing karamu, natanata, kormiko and pukatea was applied to the affected area to treat sores and boils.

The inner bark of the karamu branch was placed in cold water and the liquid applied to aches and pains.

Young karamu shoots were also boiled and the extract given to relieve bladder inflammation.

Karamu bark was boiled and the extract given orally to treat colds.

Maori from the Northland region boiled leaves in water and then drank the extract to treat kidney problems.
